I love the suburbs. I love living in a single family home with yard all around me. No one stomping around all night above me etc. Stores are right up the street. Jump in my personal a/c bubble mobile and dont have to carry my groceries on the bus or any of that nonsense. Suburbs rule

From all the urban planning videos about North America, and seeing how loosening regulations that should allow for more walkable places lead to friction. I guess the best way to fight fire is with fire. By adding restrictive regulations, like limiting height difference to a 40 degree angle, meaning you'll need a large buffer zone between suburbs and skyscrapers. Making building types that fit in-between the only profitable solutions. And off-course not trying to add the same regulations in all states because that would make Nimby's suspicious. But spread different regulations with the same effect.

Suburbs do favor ebikes which take advantage of their layout.

I live a suburban town...and since we are growing in population for some weird reason, we are getting more traffic in the morning and afternoon rush hour. Which means sitting in traffic. Sure it was fine during the 90s and traffic was light, but now...and if it keeps up omg...i think i might have to move somewhere more rural or where there isn't a lot of traffic.

Grew up in Morgantown, remember seeing the streetcar tracks on High Street in the 1970's, although the streetcars were long gone. The PRT still exists though, but that mainly serves WVU.

Why are you driving to a separate Starbucks? Isn’t there a Starbuck’s in your Target? We have Starbucks in our Target stores. Unless your Target is the new “drive through” Target where you can literally “drive through” the store without getting out of your car. Super convenient and no more hassles with shopping carts! 😂

Why don’t you show the Majority of America? Most suburbs have footpaths and are close to shops and schools, why is it never mentioned that the US has the greatest freight rail system in the world? Why is it only compared to European urban areas and not their rural suburbs and idk the rest of the world that also isn’t walkable, you go out of the main cities of France, and all the towns jsut have narrow highways going through them with no room to walk at all

So that`s the reason, why these feel so dead inside! I think another "problem" with these is the fact, that they were planned in the first place. Here in Germany a lot of the suburbs just develop "organically". The houses usually look very different from one another and thus feel a lot more cozy and less sterile. Also the planners seem to have forgotten about trees, fields and so on for better air and areas to hang out. I think it would have been quite easy to put bike-paths in these plans (not roads, really just a bike/footpath), that go between these houses to connect them better. With that said, even here in Germany, with very "walkable" cities, more and more people tend to take the bus or the car to get around and less and less people walk or take a bike.
